The Cape Teal is a common aviary bird that is relatively easy to keep and breed. Males and females look similar, male being larger and having a slightly brighter colored bill than the females. Males keep their breeding colors year round. They are in their first year but most do not lay until their second year. Clutches consist of 6-10 eggs and are incubated for about 25 days. They are not aggressive and get along well with other species.
